Dr. Dawda Badgie is an environmental scientist and policy leader, currently serving as Executive Director of The Gambia’s National Environment Agency (NEA). He has held successive leadership roles at the NEA—National Ozone Project Coordinator, Head of Environmental Impact Assessment, Director of the Technical Services Network, and Deputy Executive Director—after an early career post as Quality Assurance Supervisor at Radville Farms. Internationally, he has represented The Gambia as GEF Operational Focal Point and Council Member (including Council Co‑Chair), IAEA Focal Point, LoCAL ISO External Experts Committee member, and Scientific and Technical Committee member for RAMPAO.
He holds a PhD in agriculture and climate change, an MSc in Environmental Science (Universiti Putra Malaysia), a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Environment (University of The Gambia), a Higher Diploma in Agriculture and Life Science (Gambia College), and a Diploma in Management Studies (MDI). An adjunct lecturer at the University of The Gambia in the Departments of Physical and Natural Sciences and Environment and Public Health, Dr. Badgie has authored a book, co‑authored chapters, and published peer‑reviewed research, and he frequently presents at national and international forums.
