$28/hr

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Manage and implement multiple ongoing projects within community focus area
– Ensure project deadlines are met within budget, and produce high quality work products;
– Foster strong working relationships with project and funding partners; provide excellent customer service;
– Visit prospective project partners and sites and estimate project timelines;
– Proactively plan the project schedule, adjusting as necessary;
– Determine whether project work is to be completed by in-house crews or to be contracted out to local landscape companies
– Provide oversight and coordination of all contracted work.
– Communicate schedule to crew supervisors and prepare them for the project;
– Daily on-site crew management; hands-on involvement in project activities, as needed
– Follow, promote, and implement safe work practices
– Provide technical and educational training in classroom and field settings;
– Provide regular constructive feedback to program participants throughout the year, including evaluations;
– Other tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

– Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or three years of progressively responsible experience in landscaping, tree care, ecological restoration, green infrastructure, or other related experience
– Experience managing projects and contracts in one or more of the above mentioned industries
– Strong project management skills required (leadership, critical thinking, time management, communication)
– Ability to train participants in tree care, horticulture, landscaping, or green infrastructure required
– Some knowledge of invasive species and/or weed identification and management required
– Construction, carpentry, and hardscape installation experience required
– Green infrastructure (rain gardens, drywells, etc.) project installation and maintenance experience a plus
– Chainsaw and chipper experience a plus
– Industry certifications (S130/190 burn certification, ISA Certified Arborist, IL pesticide license) are a plus
– Culturally competent and able to work well with a diverse population of trainees, members of the public, and community groups
– Ability to work outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures as needed
– Ability to operate large vehicles with trailers and large equipment (skid steer, stump grinder, etc.) a plus
– Must have competent computer skills (Microsoft Office, email communication, etc.)
– Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license with clean driving record
– Must be available to work regular scheduled hours, Monday-Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm
– Must also be willing to work an irregular schedule, when necessary
