Aby Mbaye is a Master of Science in Climate and Energy Policy student. As an undergraduate, she studied economics and mathematics, where courses in environmental economics led her to develop an interest in energy and natural resources economics. She also participated in the American Economic Association Summer Program, which introduced her to the analytical and creative tools economists use to understand markets and society. After graduation, Mbaye joined Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm, where she worked in the Energy, Climate & Natural Resources practice. Over three years of working alongside economists and industry experts on climate and energy challenges, she became increasingly interested in the policy, economic, and technological dynamics of the energy transition.
Mbaye came to Harris to pursue the MS in Climate and Energy Policy because of its rigorous and interdisciplinary approach to addressing policy challenges. As a Bartlett Fellow, she looks forward to expanding her understanding of economic theory and innovative policy approaches while working with Professor Ryan Kellogg.
“I plan to use the education I receive at the Harris School to help organizations overcome the economic, technical, and policy challenges that limit the deployment of innovative energy solutions. By combining data analysis, economics, and energy science, I hope to develop strategies that make sustainable technologies more accessible, scalable, and economically viable while supporting a transition toward a cleaner energy future.”
