Rafael is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the São Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP). He connects models from natural sciences and economics, with a particular focus on Amazon deforestation, its climate impact, and mitigation and adaptation strategies. Prior to his current position, Rafael served as a Senior Analyst at the Climate Policy Initiative. He holds a PhD and a master’s degree in economics from the Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of São Paulo (FEA USP).
