Chenyue Cao, a Master of Arts in Public Policy with Certificate in Research Methods (MACRM) student at Harris School. Prior to Harris, she earned an MPA from University of Washington and a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering from Tsinghua University.
“Chenyue was teamed up with Harris Assistant Professor Shaoda Wang on a project aimed to analyze the political economic determinants of nuclear power plants. She mainly focused on collecting and analyzing the 1985-1987 U.S. newspaper data regarding the change in attitude before and after the Chernobyl accident in media. This included identifying newspapers with the highest circulation in each state, scraping the newspaper scans, extracting the OCRed text, cleaning the data, and conducting sentiment analysis.”
