Job Description

The Biomass Analysis Group provides analytical chemistry support to all research and development groups within the Bioenergy Science and Technology (BEST) Directorate at NREL. The successful candidate will work as part of a team performing chemical analyses on a wide variety of biomass-derived samples, keep accurate and detailed laboratory records, maintain and operate analytical instruments, and report results back to researchers. Specific duties will include assisting senior team members in the preparation of samples for instrumental analysis, performing some analyses using chromatographic techniques such as HPLC. Basic Qualifications

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Additional Required Qualifications

Successful candidates will have some experience in instrumental analysis and demonstrate significant attention to detail. They will also demonstrate clear record keeping skills with special attention to data traceability and superior oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates who are enrolled in or recently graduated from degree programs in Chemistry, Physics or Biology are preferred.
  • Candidates with analytical chemistry lab experience are preferred.
