Job Description

As part of the SmartBidder Team, you will perform leading-edge decision analysis for battery, renewable, and hybrid project development & operations. We are seeking talented individuals with a serious commitment to energy analytics and empirical modeling and an understanding of the rapidly changing dynamics of today’s power market.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative analysis and work collaboratively
  • Devise new approaches to represent results that provide support for decision analysis
  • Assimilate complex information into readily understood reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform in-depth analysis of power market operations
  • Provide clients with expertise in the areas of analytic modeling for asset revenue optimization, risk management, and bidding strategy formation
  • Serve as a technical resource for scoping, building, deploying and launch activities
  • Provide clients with on-site and web-based software training

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent quantitative analytical skills, including the ability to rapidly gather actionable intelligence from large datasets using Python or other software tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and problem-solve with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills and professional presentation
  • Passion for renewables, climate issues, and the clean energy transition

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, or other highly quantitative discipline required; advanced degree (master’s or PhD) preferred
  • Prefer energy industry experience, including knowledge of deregulated power market operations nationally and/or internationally.
  • Project management experience (including academic, extracurricular, or internship projects)

Compensation ($75,000 – $115,000)

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
