President-elect Trump picked an oil industry ally from Oklahoma to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. Scott Pruitt is attorney general in Oklahoma, where he sued the EPA to challenge regulations on power plant emissions and oil and gas industry leaks of methane. But where are market forces leading the energy industry, as far as clean or dirty energy? Long-term, natural gas is still a carbon polluter, and deregulation on its own could accelerate climate change, says EPIC’s Michael Greenstone.
