Michael Greenstone, director of the Energy Policy Institute at Chicago and a leader in environmental economics, commented on the U.S. and India’s latest efforts to reduce air pollution in India.
“I’m excited to see that the U.S. is supporting India as it turns to confronting the air pollution that is harming growth by shortening lives and causing workers to be sick. This is a challenge EPIC has been working on in India through the testing of new regulatory approaches to cut pollution and facilitate growth. There are tremendous opportunities to build on the solid foundation for progress that President Obama and Prime Minister Modi have set through continued regulatory reform and experimentation that aims to foster growth, fight air pollution, and respond to climate change.”
