Abstract:
Migratory birds are bellwethers of environmental change across multiple hemispheres but their informative power is limited without a baseline knowledge that is lacking at tropical latitudes. In this talk I will review how remote sensing methods like weather surveillance radar and acoustic monitoring have revolutionized what we know about bird migration in North America and how my research is beginning to apply these methods in South America for the first time.
